Educational Specialist Degree
Principal, Superintendent, or Director of Special Education Licensure
What You Learn
The Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) degree in Educational Leadership at CSP Global is for students seeking to maximize their leadership talents and skills in Early Childhood through Grade 12 educational settings, including eligibility for licensure in the state of Minnesota as a K-12 principal, superintendent or special education director.
The administrator licensure program at Concordia University is conducted as an online cohort program from beginning to end, with start dates in September and March. Approved by the Minnesota Board of School Administrators (BOSA), the program fully meets all Minnesota Administrative Rule 3512 requirements. The graduate tuition remains a competitive $415 per graduate credit with no additional fees.
The Ed.S. program is designed for K-12 principals, superintendents, and directors of Special Education for licensure in Minnesota and comprises eight (8) three-credit online synchronous courses and six credits of asynchronous internship courses, totaling 30 graduate credits. The internship component is carefully structured to meet the 320 hours required by Minnesota Rule. The program is typically completed within 17 to 24 months. Final requirements for licensure include a digital portfolio and a situational observation panel interview to demonstrate competency in Minnesota Rule. Upon earning the Ed.S. in Educational Leadership, candidates are eligible to apply to the Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB) for their Minnesota public school administrator license.
